Setup & Installation

How do I set up my smart pet feeder for the first time?

First, ensure the feeder is placed on a flat, stable surface. Install the food hopper and bowls, then plug in the power adapter. Download the Tuya Smart app from your device’s app store, create an account, and follow the in-app pairing instructions to connect the feeder to your Wi-Fi network.

Most Decent smart products support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. Some newer models (like the DC-F15 and DC-F17) also support 5GHz and 5G connectivity. Ensure your Wi-Fi signal is strong where the device is located, and avoid special characters in your Wi-Fi password for easier setup.

After installing the Tuya Smart app, tap the “+” icon to add a device. Select the correct product category, then follow the prompts to put your device in pairing mode (usually by holding a specific button). Make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during this process.

Troubleshooting

My device won't connect to Wi-Fi. What should I do?

First, restart both your router and the device. Ensure you’re connecting to a 2.4GHz network (not 5GHz for most models). Check that your Wi-Fi password is correct. If issues persist, try moving the device closer to the router or resetting the device’s network settings (usually via a pinhole reset button).

Check if the waste drawer is full (it holds 11L). Ensure the unit is properly leveled on the floor. Verify that the safety sensors are clean and unobstructed. Check the app settings to confirm automatic cycling is enabled. If the issue continues, perform a manual reset via the control panel.

A slight humming sound is normal during operation. However, if you hear grinding or loud noises, check for debris in the pump. Clean the pump and filter according to the maintenance guide. Ensure the water level is adequate (low water can cause pump noise). Most models operate at 25-30dB when functioning properly.

Operation & Maintenance

How often should I clean my smart pet feeder?

We recommend wiping the exterior weekly and performing a full cleaning monthly. Remove all parts, wash the bowls and food hopper with mild soap, and ensure all components are completely dry before reassembly. The desiccant pack should be replaced every 2-3 months to maintain food freshness.

Decent smart litter boxes are compatible with clumping clay litter, tofu litter, and mixed litters. We recommend medium-grain clumping litter for optimal performance. Avoid non-clumping, crystal, or extremely fine litter as it may not cycle properly. Do not use flushable litter in automatic litter boxes.

Clean the pump every 2-4 weeks depending on usage. Disassemble the pump according to the manual, rinse all parts, and use the provided brush to remove any debris. Replace the filter every 4 weeks for optimal performance. Always unplug the unit before cleaning.
